Masculine Card for my Dad's Birthday

Today is my dad's 83rd Birthday so I made a card last night with the girls for him. He's a huge fan of Westerns, so this theme wasn't hard to dream up. I pretty much grew up watching John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and the like. Now my girls get to have that experience when grandpa stays over.  It makes me smile watching them together watching these old classics on tv.  The circle of life....

Happy Birthday Dad!

The Deets
I stamped the background with vintage photo then brushed and rubbed the edges with it. I also brushed the distress ink on the edges of the pattern paper and fussy cut one side of the horse and rider. I then adhered it to the card base leaving the fussy cut side lifted and used a pop dot to keep it raised.  Fussy cut the star and attached with a pop dot. After that I stamped the sentiment. I then punched a hole through the rider's hand and ran the twine through the opening and formed a lasso around the sentiment and glued the bottom down. I thought it was missing something so I cut tiny triangles and thin lines out of black scraps and glued them down too. I also added some subtle shading with a black Prisma colored pencil.  On the inside, I just created a message in Word using Branding Iron font on white cardstock. I crushed the paper then ran Old Paper over it to ink the creases. I then distressed the edges with my tool and  brushed Vintage Photo over the edges. Matted it onto some brown scraps and adhered it to the card.

Paper: Cardstock = PTI Fine Linen,
Pattern Paper = Sandylion Sticker Designs "Wanted"
Stamps: Hero Arts Envelope Pattern Background, PTI Fillable Frames #1 for sentiment
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black, Tim Holtz DI Vintage Photo, Old Paper (Inside)
Extras:  Twine, Distress tool, bristle brush, Crocodile hole punch, white, brown and black scraps, pop dot, Mono Adhesive

Thanks for looking!

I Did Digital Pages!

I have been seeing some really amazing digital pages lately and they have inspired me to give it a try. I have  Photoshop and found some cute downloadable kits online that fit my budget...Free being my budget right now!

For those of you who haven't tried digital, give it a try.  I found it fun and liberating! I mean you don't have to worry about gluing something down and then not liking it, wishing you could change the way you cut your precious paper, or....you get the idea.  I have to admit that those thoughts pop into my head when I'm creating with my favorite materials, usually when I'm running low on them! So digital gave me the chance to pop things onto the page willy-nilly (love that phrase) without breaking a sweat! If I didn't like it, no problemo...off it came!

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not willing to give up all my stuff...I'm just saying this was fun and creative in a different, non-committal way! I will definitely give it a go again!

Love these girls of mine!

Cards Cards Cards

Here are some cards I have made in the past and haven't tosssed them in a box given them away yet.  I don't remember all the products I have used so they are not labeled. I will try to do that in the future. My Bad! Pictures are not the best...I had to use my camera phone.

My First Post!

Hello and welcome to my blog! My goal is to keep this simple and fun...just like my crafting style. This will be a place to share my creative outpourings. I know I enjoy relaxing with a cup of coffee and surfing my favorite crafty blogs, so I thought I would share too!  Thanks for stopping by and look for more in the future.
