Masculine Card for my Dad's Birthday

Today is my dad's 83rd Birthday so I made a card last night with the girls for him. He's a huge fan of Westerns, so this theme wasn't hard to dream up. I pretty much grew up watching John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and the like. Now my girls get to have that experience when grandpa stays over.  It makes me smile watching them together watching these old classics on tv.  The circle of life....

The Deets

I stamped the background with vintage photo then brushed and rubbed the edges with it. I also brushed the distress ink on the edges of the pattern paper and fussy cut one side of the horse and rider. I then adhered it to the card base leaving the fussy cut side lifted and used a pop dot to keep it raised.  Fussy cut the star and attached with a pop dot. After that I stamped the sentiment. I then punched a hole through the rider's hand and ran the twine through the opening and formed a lasso around the sentiment and glued the bottom down. I thought it was missing something so I cut tiny triangles and thin lines out of black scraps and glued them down too. I also added some subtle shading with a black Prisma colored pencil.  On the inside, I just created a message in Word using Branding Iron font on white cardstock. I crushed the paper then ran Old Paper over it to ink the creases. I then distressed the edges with my tool and  brushed Vintage Photo over the edges. Matted it onto some brown scraps and adhered it to the card.
